I can count on Jabal for all of our website design and development. He always designed web pages with best practices for user experience, SEO, and web performance in mind. He proactively constructed the site for easy enhancement and maintenance. He acts as an extended member of our team by taking ownership of issues and commitment to finding resolutions that meet our business needs.
Custom Modular Template
Over the last few years, I’ve refactored almost every single line of code within ShotSpotter’s WordPress codebase. Our custom modular template was one of the most notable additions to the theme. The modular template leverages ACF’s flexible content, allowing us to build pages like lego building blocks. An added benefit is pulling dynamic range from custom post types, like Resources and CTAs. One of the main benefits of the modular template is that we’re able to create a customizable backend making it easier for non-technical users to quickly and easily update content without HTML knowledge or experience. The modular template ultimately gave us the flexibility to enhance and modify the codebase through rapid iterations, continuous integration, and deployments.
Web Design & WordPress Development
Creating new pages usually starts with a general idea mentioned in one of the weekly web strategy or demand generation calls. The source of the concept isn’t significant because we welcome views from all places. Once we’ve aligned on the general idea of what we’re trying to accomplish, we typically gather requirements in a Google Doc. Sometimes I jump right into Figma and start sketching ideas using the custom UI kit I’ve created for ShotSpotter. We’ve found that interactive prototypes in Figma or InVision allow us to quickly identify blindspots and align on any additional requirements we might’ve missed. Leveraging our custom modular template, we’re typically able to go from wireframes to published web pages within a few hours of production.
