Armstrong Retouching
As a lead finisher in the entertainment industry, Travis Armstrong needed a portfolio to showcase his work in a neutral environment where all his work can live, no matter what visual style or tone. The approach was to allow the work to stand alone simply on white, as you’d see in a gallery.
The design and development was intended to be a clean, single page portfolio using the HTML Kickstart framework, avoiding overly designed and complex UI elements. My goal was to create an elegant and responsive site that puts his work front and center. We chose to implement a large thumbnail carousel with fade-in captions upon hovering, inviting users to interact with and view the full size images that varied in height and width.
Travis’ Scottish surname was the inspiration for the typeface selection. The ‘Playfair Display SC’ font face from Google fonts was selected because it is timeless and bold.
I’m currently in the process of converting his static site into a WordPress theme so he can easily update it with his latest work.

Refinery End of Year
Annual end of the year recap, highlighting the best work from The Refinery Creative and shared with all clients via email. With the likelihood of clients viewing this on their phone, carousel flexes from desktop to mobile. The site is intended for business development as we start the new year. I was responsible for the UX design and front-end development of this project.
